Can I have an accompanist or backing music?

In these events we do not accept CD’s as backing tracks but you can have an accompanist. If you would like help to find an accompanist please contact us by the 24th February at the latest and we will try to help. Please note accompanists normally make a small charge to rehearse your piece with you and attend on the day. No amplification is used at these events (except for solo electric guitarists). If you or your group needs to use amplification then please consider entering Entertainer if you are a soloist or, if you are a band, Gig Night. See www.hyf.org.uk for more details of these exciting events.

Can I enter as a soloist AND as part of a group?

You may, but you can only take part in 2 items in total. Please fill in a separate entry form for each. Even if you play two instruments unfortunately, due to time restrictions, we cannot accept two entries from you to play as a soloist. If either of the events is oversubscribed we may have to limit the total number of performances.

Will there be Rehearsals?

No formal rehearsals, but the Henley Room will be available throughout the event for tuning and warming up.

How long should my performance be?

Your piece should be 3 minutes or less

Will there be any Feedback on my performance?

Professional advisors will give feedback on each performance. They will also select performers who they consider deserve special recognition, to be awarded trophies donated by the Rotary Club of Henley on Thames. These will be presented at the Festival Gala . Some performers may be asked to perform again at the Gala on Saturday 27th March 2010.
