Young Shakespeare Company - 'Hamlet'

On the ramparts of Elsinore Castle, the ghost of old King Hamlet appears through the mist to reveal a startling and extraordinary secret to his son Prince Hamlet.  Should he believe what the ghost tells him? And if so, what should the young Prince do with this shocking information?

A storyteller and four Young Shakespeare Company actors perform Shakespeare’s gripping family drama in a fast-moving promenade-style performance of the play in costume and with props.  The play is brought vividly to life around and among the children, at times including the whole audience to create dramatic scenes.

Throughout the performance the children become actively involved in the play through a carefully structured range of drama and language activities.

NOTE: - This workshop works especially well when the
children have no prior knowledge of the play, enabling
them to predict and imagine what they think might happen
next and so teachers are asked not to tell the story of the
play in advance.

Date: Friday 14 March and Thursday 20 March
